Is Cabbage Soup Diets Good for your Health?

Cabbage soup diet is a 7-day, low calorie diet where it allows people to eat as much Cabbage Soup as they want each day. The more soup you eat the more weight you should lose. People try this even though it tastes awful because they think it’s healthy. Being a fad diet, it is also considered hazardous for your health. Here are the reasons why cabbage soup is not ideal for losing weight quickly.

No one still claims the responsibility in inventing the cabbage soup diet but you can find various cabbage diet plans based around eating huge amounts of cabbage soup, and very (or nothing) little else. Claims made for the cabbage soup diet range from the cabbage soup itself for it has fat burning properties that you can lose 10lbs in a week. The diet is often described as a quick way to drop pounds for a special event and most proponents advise that it only be followed for a week.

The way of cooking cabbage soup to make it very effective for weight loss is simply to boil it in water, add a pinch of salt and that’s it. This soup really tastes disgusting.

What can cabbage do for you and what can it not do? The cabbage is an excellent source of
vitamin K and vitamin C. Have a raw cabbage salad to maximize the intake of vitamin K and C (vitamin C is quickly destroyed at high temperatures so the more you cook the cabbage, the less chances to preserve its important vitamins). Also, one cup of cabbage will provide you with almost 15% percent of your daily fiber needs.

Even though the cabbage diet is rich in vitamins, minerals and even the oh-so-great omega 3 fatty acids, still it completely lacks calories. One cup has about 33 calories. And it makes you feel full for a long time. Cabbage will travel very slow through your system and will make it easier for you not to feel hungry.

Eating cabbage soup and nothing else will affect your body because for your brain to operate, you need a healthy amount of fat intake so your brain will shift from consuming fat from food and reserves to consuming fat stored in muscles and major organs. You have to remember that the brain is responsible in adjusting the metabolism of your body so the brain knows when the food you eat is not enough for your energy. The less food you eat, the less energy you will gain. Eating cabbage soup is like losing muscle tissues, feeling down and being depressed. Would you choose a less active life or live a healthy life? The choice depends upon you.

Guide to Anti Aging Health Product

It can be hard to understand what an antiaging health product is. This is because you will not find these antiaging health products in stores or pharmacies. It seems that they are only available online or at your nearest health spa. Every antiaging health product will contain a vast number of vitamins and minerals that have been proven to help you in the fight against aging of the skin.

Healthy Body Equals Healthy Skin

It has been proven that if you feel good on the inside then this will show on the outside and this is true when you are combating the antiaging effect. No antiaging health product can help you if you do not feel good on the inside. Staying healthy will be the greatest help in the combat against the antiaging effect.

How To Help Your Body

Beating the antiaging effect can be done by you taking better care of yourself. After all if you are stressed out then an antiaging health product will not be able to help you as well as when you are calm. Just by getting more sleep can help you fight the signs of antiaging. Add to this your antiaging health product packed full of vitamins and minerals and then you have a recipe for the best combat against the antiaging effect.

Natural Is The Best Item For Antiaging

Going natural in the fight against antiaging can be the best move that you will make. After all it has been proven that vitamins do help the body in the fight against antiaging. Every antiaging skin product will be packed with the necessary vitamins and minerals needed to combat the early signs of aging. This shows that a antiaging skin product might be better then the moisturizer that is widely available.

Is Natural Right For Everyone?

Believe it or not a natural antiaging skin product will not be suitable for everyone. Some people will not have suitable skin to cater for a antiaging skin product. It is highly recommended that if you are thinking of trying a natural antiaging skin product, then you should consult a dermatologist as they will be able to let you know if a natural antiaging skin product is good for your skin. Natural antiaging skin products are not a thing of the future. But harnessing nature’s goodness can only benefit you in the long run, so it is important that you use a natural antiaging skin product to your benefit.

Obesity Risks & Health - What Are The Health Risk Factors Related To Obesity?

The emergence of new and contradicting studies in the fields of Nutrition and Health each day has made it very difficult for one to decide what to believe and what not to.However, one fact that independent studies cannot deny is that with the increase in obesity and excess body fat come several associated health risks.

Studies have concluded that anyone who is overweight is potentially at a higher risk of suffering from a number of health problems such as
high blood pressure, various heart ailments, Diabetes, Colon Cancer, gallstones Etc.

But the debate continues as to how much one would consider as being 'Considerably Overweight'?

Although there is no fixed ideal weight for any given person there are certain factors that do provide an accurately healthy range .One such measurement is that of a BMI (Body Mass Index)which is calculated by dividing ones weight in Kilograms by ones height squared(meters).A rough classification for a BMI result is as follows :-

Under 18.5 = Underweight
18.5 - 24.99 = Normal Weight
25 - 29.99 = Overweight
30 - 34.99 = Obese (Class 1)
35 - 39.99 = Obese (Class 2)
40 and above = Extreme Obesity

For people who have a lower BMI, health risks are minimal but one cannot rule out genetic and environmental factors that can cause health problems. However, for those with a BMI of 25 and above, conclusive studies have proven that health risks are infinitely greater.

People who suffer from 'Abnormal Obesity' have large fat deposits around the stomach and abdomen and are prone to suffering from Cardiovascular diseases and Insulin resistance syndrome. For women to fall under this category their waist circumference should be 35 inches or more whereas for men it is 40 inches and above.Other risks associated with this health risk are high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Excessive body fat is particularly harmful as leads to the narrowing and clogging of the arteries which can eventually cause a stroke and/or
hypertension.

For an average person, rapid weight gain from 10-20 pounds increases the odds of developing Type 2 Diabetes.Although genetic factors should be taken into account the fact of the matter is that an individual who has had rapid weight gain is at double the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes than a person who has not had any weight gain when other factors are held constant.

Studies have also discovered a direct correlation between high BMI levels and the degree of liver damage.
Liver Disease can be caused by insulin resistance which is more likely to be found among those who are obese.

A rapid rise in BMI or obesity can also lead to the formation of gallstones and sleep apnea(an interruption of breathing during sleep).

In short, even though there are many genetic and environmental factors it has been found that excessive body fat is a major factor responsible for health issues.Nowadays, being obese is no longer an issue of simply being acceptable it has become a major health risk that people should be aware of.

Eat a well-balanced diet - Include lots of fruits and vegetables, and keep your intake of fried foods, red meat, and junk food to a bare minimum. Prevent taking hydrogenated fats like margarine and vegetable shortening. (Be conscious of products that are in many store-bought crackers, cakes, and cookies - even health-store brands.) A Wealth Of Health: Eating Foods High In Fiber

By choosing high fiber foods, you can become part of the legend of those who have the nutritional wisdom which ensures better health, counteracts disease, and produces greater vitality. Ask not what your high fiber diet can do for you, but what you can do for your high fiber diet. Camelot? Spamalot? Fiber--alot.

Fiberlady is the new Guinevere. She's come to share the wealth about your health. One of the main reasons for the emerging trend of high fiber foods is the ongoing quest for weight loss. Even the Knights of the Round Table have discovered that their armor fits better than ever.

The average American consumes about 5-13 grams of fiber daily, but nutrition experts recommend a daily intake of 20-35 grams. Here's what you can do in the quest for your high fiber diet. Start by replacing white bread with whole grain bread, white rice with brown rice. Add more beans and legumes, veggies, fruits, seeds and nuts. Any foods with more than 4 grams per serving are categorized as high in fiber.

People are moving away from the low-carb diet fad towards eating foods that are high in fiber. New products making high-fiber claims has nearly doubled in the past few years. For example, Sara Lee (bless her heart) has developed a white bread with all the fiber and many of the nutrients of whole wheat bread. And wonder of wonders, Wonder has made a bread with a special 100% whole wheat flour milled from white wheat. These products make the new USDA Food Pyramid much easier to scale.

A diet rich in high fiber foods is essential for your ultimate health. Dietary fiber is vital for prevention or treatment of diverticulitis, diabetes, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's disease. Studies have shown that certain conditions such as constipation, hemorrhoids, diverticulosis and high blood pressure respond favorably to a high fiber diet. Those who need a gluten free diet can still benefit from a variety of high fiber foods. Certain types of fiber can even lower blood cholesterol levels.

One of Fiberlady's greatest concerns is the alarming trend for today's children to be overweight. The new Food Guide Pyramid recommends that children consume 1 to 3 servings of whole grains daily. It's probable that most children don't even eat 1 serving a day of whole grains. Dietary fiber has a powerful impact on children's overall health. After eating fiber-rich foods, there is a feeling of fullness which helps to control overeating. Fiber also helps regulate blood sugar which is vital to childrens' energy and digestive health. High fiber foods are as important to their health as it is to yours.

Fiberlady knows how easy it is to raise your high fiber IQ. Educate yourself and those you love about high cholesterol, diabetes, types of cancer, high blood pressure, and other ailments that can be drastically improved or controlled by including high fiber recipes and high fiber menus on a regular daily basis.

Camelot was the beginning of the Quest for the Holy Grail. It could be considered a state of mind, but the quest for high fiber health is most assuredly the starting point to a state of good health!

Ten Ideas to Eliminate Puffy Eyes

1. Take a metal spoon and run it under cold water. Place the metal on the puffy area for at least 60 seconds.

2. Apply hemorrhoid cream (look for brands that contain ingredients of yeast and shark's
liver oil) to the puffy area. Insiders have known for years that in just the way it gets the swelling out of that other area, it works the same way for the face.

3. Thin cucumber slices used as compresses over closed eyes will relieve sore, puffy eyes.

4. A black tea bag soaked in cold water on each eye for ten minutes will reduce swelling caused by fluid retention. Gently press from inner to outer corners to hasten drainage. Moistened caffeine tea bags will also work the same way by reducing puffiness because caffeine constricts blood vessels and reduces swelling.

5. Avoid salty foods, which cause the under eye area (and the rest of your body) to hold fluid.

6. Elevate your head when you sleep, to keep fluid from settling around your eyes and keep swelling down.

7. A few egg whites, stiffly beaten, and applied with a brush to the face and under the eyes will make the skin feel tighter and look less puffy. Add a drop or two of witch hazel which also reduces swelling and will keep the egg whites from drying to rapidly.

8. Making sure you are drinking enough water will also reduce eye puffiness. When a person is dehydrated the body starts storing water as a defense system and this will add to puffiness around the eyes.

9. Contact lenses should be removed before going to bed, to avoid puffiness caused by lens irritation and drying.

10. Rinse your face in cold water when you wake up or when puffy eyes attack anytime of the day to constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling. This is a great energizer.

Heart Healthy Dieting

Recent research on nutrition shows we are really what we eat. More and more people are getting on the weight loss bandwagon, but how many are cognizant of weight loss with a heart healthy diet? Research further shows that eating fruit and vegetables every few hours will elevate the body's disease-fighting ability while losing weight in the process.

The easiest and healthiest way to keep weight off is to consume fewer calories. Several authors have written articles, books and periodicals on the subject of weight loss and this will probably be the trend for many years to come. In this era of obesity, millions of people are researching all the weight loss information they can find. Millions of people are starting diets every day. Many of those diets fail before they get started. When the diet fails, the individual gets frustrated with himself or herself and vows to quit. Guess what? Quitting a diet does not stop the weight gain. Eventually you will see increased pounds above and beyond where your weight gain was before starting and quitting the diet.

Heart healthy dieting cannot be rushed. You must motivate yourself to maintain the stamina to stick with the diet you choose for however long it takes to be successful with your weight loss. Thoroughly research the diet plan you have chosen. Make sure the diet plan will give you the weight loss results you are seeking. Once you have decided on a diet plan, consult your physician to be sure you have no unknown health issues that may prohibit the chosen diet plan.

When choosing a weight loss plan, keep it real. Stay in touch with reality. You know you did not gain the weight overnight, so do not expect to lose weight overnight. There are no miracle weight loss diets that will melt pounds away while you sleep. Set your weight loss goals low enough for you to handle. If you want to lose a few pounds, this can be attainable in a short while, but not overnight. If you want to lose a lot of pounds, set your goals in attainable increments. Maybe five to ten pounds would be best as incremental weight loss goals. You should have the stamina to sustain a five to ten pound weight loss.

A five-day fast could give you the motivation to reach your fist incremental weight loss goal. After the five-day fast, you might be pleasantly surprised of your success and decide to step up your weight loss regimen a notch. Always remember to eat heart healthy on your way to the weight loss success you want.
